BACK TO SCHOOL REFRESHERS
Join Alix for a little brain glow-up before the school year begins.
We'll be covering 3 main topics as well as jumping into our usual creativity, brain-training and good socializing. Feel free to mix and match the weekdays.
IDENTITY
Monday Aug 26 / 10am-12pm
This confidence-boosting one day camp will give your person the chance to put their finger on what is special, unique, + interesting about them. We’ll explore why standing out in a group is amazing (while acknowledging that sometimes we feel better blending in). We’ll talk about our values - what is important to us - while creating a little container of self-acceptance that will boost us for the school year ahead.
SOCIAL GAME
Tuesday Aug 27 / 10am-12pm
For sure the social game is the tricky part, right? Connections are pretty essential for our mental health and yet, can be really complicated if we don’t have a road-map.
#1 how do we even make friends?
#2 what happens when we have a disagreement with them?
#3 what happens when we find ourselves on the wrong end of relational aggression (that sneaky form of bullying)
#4 how do we deal with in-you-face aggression???
This stuff is so tricky sometimes - and made even trickier by our own memories and triggers as parents. Send your people to the camp: give them the road-map to healthy friendships that will last a lifetime.
COPING SKILLS
Wednesday Aug 28 / 10am-12pm
Imagine a world where we learn how to cope with hard emotions instead of just stuffing them down to be dealt with later (and then not dealing with them at all until they show up in some very un-welcome way)? Shocking. In Grit we put Coping Skills into 4 main categories: Distraction Movement Talking/Thinking Relaxation. And we practice what that looks like so that when a hard emotion comes up, we already have the muscle memory. Keep that brain functioning properly!
